The Breaking Point

In the hero’s journey the hero embarks on an adventure that has no roadmap or guidelines. He or she is out of their comfort zone but knows in their heart that this is the only way forward. They stand at the opening to the forest and see two roads ahead. One is a very groomed clear path, and the other is a rugged, wild, unknown trail that is a little intimidating, but full of possibilities.
The hero is at a crossroad because they do not know what path to take, but the universe made it easy to decide by putting up an “out of order” sign on the well-groomed path so no one could enter. Your only option is to go down the rugged, wild, unknown path that gives no feeling of certainty.
When it comes to the COVID virus, the universe put an “out of order” sign on the well-groomed path and forced us all to enter the unknown. When embarking on a journey the hero (which is us) always faces their inner demons, wounds, meets helpers along the way, and learns more about the magic they always had within. Then right when they see the light at the end of the tunnel, feet away from grasping their original intention for the quest there is always a breaking point. The hero asks, can I actually do this? I have come so far. I am tired, I am wounded, do I have enough strength to continue?
This has been a common theme this week when speaking with clients, friends, and family. We are all at our breaking point and if you are in the northern hemisphere it just so happens to be the middle of winter, which makes things a little more challenging. We are all the heroes in this pandemic journey and I truly believe that we are so close to seeing the light.
So if you notice you are close to the breaking point, visualize what it would look and feel like to accomplish this quest. Visualize this everyday as if you are already there. For me, I keep picturing my feet in the sand near the ocean on a warm summer's day! Maybe even going out to dinner after and having a sangria. I may close my eyes while sitting next to the heater to feel as if I am in the summer sun. Do whatever works for you. We are almost there, you got this
